What I do . . .
I have work from my Sussex home creating textiles designs for the trade and taking commissions. Wallpapers, tiles, lampshades, I’ve experimented with all sorts of surfaces and designs. I like to upcycle found objects, to paint on, stitch on or hand print screens, wallpapers and other home furnishings, I’m just loving the freedom to design and to see those designs translated into many different forms is so exciting.
I organise gift fairs for craft makers around Easter and Christmas.
I also work as an Editor – editing International title Fruit Juice Focus, British Dairying e: newsletter and Dairy Extra, and organise industry events for the food & farming sector including the annual Cream Awards – Dairy Industry Trade Awards.
I studied textiles for fashion a million years ago attending Maidstone College of Art, followed by Middlesex Polytechnic and worked as a milliner for a short time following a placement with celebrity hatter Stephen Jones. However I ended up spending the following 25 years as a Marketing Manager & Director at several leading magazine publishers, first in book publishing then later B2B magazines including organising industry events and awards. 2002-2012 I ran publishing company Grove House Publishing with Alan Whibley.
I’m now a freelance writer and editor, organiser and maker and love working from home. I have a son Andreas and a Boston Terrier called ‘Buster’!
